Dolphin Watching Near Siesta Key & Sarasota — What to Expect

If you’re visiting the Sarasota area and hoping to see dolphins in the wild, you’re in the right place. The waters around Osprey, Siesta Key, and Sarasota Bay are home to more than 170 resident bottlenose dolphins — and unlike many destinations, these dolphins don’t migrate. That means no matter what time of year you visit, your chances of a sighting are excellent.

Where We Depart

All of our dolphin watching tours depart from 582 Blackburn Point Road, Osprey, FL 34229 — a convenient location with easy access to the intracoastal waterway and the open waters where our resident dolphin population lives and feeds.

Best Time to See Dolphins

While we spot dolphins on virtually every tour we run, early morning departures offer the best experience. Before boat traffic picks up on the water, dolphins are more active at the surface, feeding and socializing. The water is also calmer in the morning, making for a smoother ride and better visibility.

That said, because our dolphins are permanent residents of Sarasota Bay and the surrounding waterways — not seasonal visitors — great sightings happen throughout the day and year-round.

Our Boat

We run our tours on a 24-foot Hurricane Sundeck — a spacious, comfortable boat rated for 6 passengers by the U.S. Coast Guard. Because we limit our tours to a maximum of 6 guests per Coast Guard regulations for charter operations, every passenger has plenty of room to move around, find shade, and enjoy unobstructed views. No feeling crowded, no fighting for a spot at the rail.

The boat features ample shade, comfortable seating, and is kept clean and well-maintained for every trip.

Who Can Come

Our dolphin watching tours are 100% family friendly and open to all ages. Whether you’re bringing toddlers, grandparents, or everyone in between, our boat accommodates the whole group comfortably. We welcome kids and families and love introducing younger passengers to the incredible marine life right here in our backyard.
